One of the fundamental and initial aims of Al-Hidayah is to equip young people with the basics and essentials of their religion so they may establish a connection with their Lord through worship.
To achieve this; a Maktab (evening Madrasah) was initiated in October 2009 for children aged 5-15 operating between 5pm-7pm on weekdays wherein children are taught the essentials of worship such as Qur’an recitation, establishing prayer, alongside many other subjects including Aqidah (integral beliefs), Seerah (Islamic History), Fiqh (Islamic Rulings) and Duas (verbal form of worship), with a key focus on Tarbiyyah (sound nurturing and upbringing) of the child in aspects of their religious and moral development.
Memorisation of the glourious Qur’an, holds much virtue in the sight of deen as well as the people, after much dedication from the teacher, student and parent a child put to memory the entire Qur’an, thereafter utilises this gift to lead othes in salah or even teach future generations the deen of Allah.
It is narrated from ‘Abdullah ibn ‘Amr that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “It will be said to the companion of the Qur’aan (i.e., the one who memorized and studied it): ‘Read, advance in status and recite as you used to do in the world, for your status will be commensurate with the last aayah that you recite.”
